9th Annual Hotter Than Thou Chili Cook Off

The Chili Cook-Off brings together members of over 20 diverse congregations, invited local dignitaries, guests and friends for an informal afternoon of light-hearted competition to determine which congregation will earn the coveted "Golden Ladle".

Started in 2011 with four congregations, this event has grown immensely with the support of our sponsors and participating congregations. Each participating congregation promotes the event to more than 10,000 members collectively and more than 300 residents of Howard County are expected to attend the event this year. Attendees vote by placing cash and checks in the congregation chili cook-off teams' "Tip Jar"; the congregation which brings in the most money earns the "Golden Ladle" which is awarded at the end of the afternoon. Amid the fun and fellowship, we give away door prizes, we host a silent auction, local celebrity chili judging, client testimony, and event sponsors are thanked and promoted.

In addition, Sponsors of this upbeat event become identified with community responsibility. The public associates Sponsors' names with an effort that seeks to solve a community problem.
